Fitchburg Is Coming Down

Took a trip out to see The Central Steamplant A.K.A. The Fitchburg Power Plant the other day with Cambria, Catherine, and ClimbingDoug. After a few wrong turns, looking for the wrong colored smokestack(my fault), we arrived to see all the windows with new fiberglass sheets over them. This couldn't be a good sign. As we got closer, we were greeted by a fence and a sign informing us of the impending demise of the plant. Many of the outer buildings had already been torn down, and the ladders to both coal silo's, as well as the smokestack had been cut down. None of us had heard anything about this, but we were all glad to make it out for at least one final visit before she's gone. We found an easy entrance and wandered around this massive beauty, possibly for the last time. Kind of a sad story, really.
